SUBJECT: RIGHT OR RELATIONSHIP
John 3:16 New King James Version – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
As I was driving and praying about me and my daughters relationship God spoke these words to my mind “Do you want to be right or do you want a relationship?”I think I swerved a little cause it was like he said it and dropped the ?
So now I’m like a deer in the head lights; and right then the lightbulb came on and I said OMG! That’s what you do every day with us, you chooses relationship over us being right.
Guess what God said then… Duh. But it was in a good way.
I’m not saying God isn’t happy when you get it but he’s extra happy when I get it. It’s like when I was growing up. It’s not like they weren’t happy when my sisters got good grades but when I got good grades my daddy put a little sauce on it, beat his chess, like that’s my son.
Sometimes you have to make a decision on whether you want to be right or have a relationship.
The guy who fixed our septic tank worked 17 years on the job. He worked for 7years and went to prison for 14 years. This was 10 years ago when he got out. (This is a part of his relationship with his boss)
He said selling crack was his the families business. But that time in prison made a believer out of him. Now he doesn’t even go around his family much. He loves them, but he’s not going back to prison for anyone.
There are different types of relationships / millions and here’s the thing, you get to chose what type of relationship you want.
Don’t measure your relationship against nobody else’s. Alicia’s family always greets each other with a hug and kiss. In family we don’t hug or kiss, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love my family as much as she loves hers.
In Closing:
There’s a myth that relationships should last forever.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 in the King James Version reads “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”
Some relationships are stick and stay and you work at keeping them.
Some relationships naturally fade away. You find yourself drifting away and you cut lose from them.
Each relationship is different. It’s like the song The Gambler by Kenny Rogers. You’ve got to know when to hold them; know when to fold them, know when to walk away and know when to run.
Remember sometimes you’re going to have to choose between right and relationship.
God won’t judge; he’ll smile.
Make your relationships what you want them to be.
Just a little side not when it comes to Friends. Proverbs 27:17 King James Version – “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”
So if someone isn’t sharpening you, i.e. enhancing or enriching your life, they’re not a friend…they’re an acquaintance.
No one can make your relationship with someone else be more than what you want it to be.
When they push and you push it’s like 2 magnets against each other. Not only will they never connect but the harder you push the more friction and turmoil it causes between you and that person. You choose your relationships. No one can force you to be in a relationship with someone: and it’s o.k. God won’t judge; he’ll smile.
