SUBJECT: NOBODY WANTS TO BE VULNERABLE.
SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 12:10 ~ AMPLIFIED
“So I am well pleased with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, and with difficulties, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak [in human strength], then I am strong [truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God’s strength].”
Nobody wants to be vulnerable. It’s a very scary place; and being vulnerable means the outcome is uncertain.
In fact, we want the complete opposite. We want to be in control. We want to determine the outcome of things.
But guess what? We’re never really in control of anything God is; and He likes a little weakness.
When we’re in control of things we feel good.
Good because you’ve got a job
Good because your healthy
Good because you live in a safe neighborhood
Good because you go to church, pay your tithe, sing in the choir, on the usher and deacon board.
We think we’re good because we’re good people, we don’t bother nobody and we help others out……..
Ephesians 6:10 King James Version reads: Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
THE TRUTH IS: we’re good for one reason and one reason only, because God himself said “We’re Good.”
Yes, sometimes God wants us to be vulnerable. When we’re vulnerable we need God the most
See when we’re vulnerable we do a lot of crying out, A lot of testifying or testilying. Come on somebody. Don’t tell me I’m the only one that’s testilyed to God.
We have a PHD in lying to God.The 7 lie words: “If you get me out of this; I won’t do…….”
When I was in the ARMY in the desert in a fox hole and bullets were flying over my head I told God “if you get me out of this I’ll live for you.” Did I do it; NO.
But here’s the beauty of it all; I knew I was lying as I was praying and he knew I was lying as he listened.
And Why does he listen to us?
Out of 1 million failures he’s looking for a glimpse of light, a little piece of potential in us.
Out of a desert full of lies he’s looking for one grain of truth. Just one grain.
Because God can take one grain and make a Mountain.
God’s Team has A players and He’s got some B,C,D, and F players. F doesn’t mean you don’t have anything. You get some points for it.
Why does God have F’s on his team. Because F’s can reach some people the A’s can’t reach.
Keep pushing even if you’re not doing what you told God you would do keep pushing.
“One Grain!”
Sometimes it takes us being vulnerable for God to get that one grain out of us.
“For when I am weak then I am strong.”
Brene Brown says Vulnerability is not winning or losing. It’s having the courage to show up when you can’t control the outcome.
She also says Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.” “You either walk inside your story and own it or you stand outside your story and hustle for your worthiness.”
