PRAYER BROUGHT IT TO YOU, BUT YOU’VE GOT TO OPEN THE DOOR TO RECEIVE IT.

SERIES: I’M STEPPING INTO ALL THAT GOD HAS FOR ME!

SUBJECT: “PRAYER BROUGHT IT TO YOU, BUT YOU’VE GOT TO OPEN THE DOOR TO RECEIVE IT.”

Acts 12:10-16 (Living Bible)

12 After a little thought he went to the home of Mary, mother of John Mark, where many were gathered for a prayer meeting.

13 He knocked at the door in the gate, and a girl named Rhoda came to open it. 14 When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed that she ran back inside to tell everyone that Peter was standing outside in the street. 15 They didn’t believe her. “You’re out of your mind,” they said. When she insisted they decided, “It must be his angel. They must have killed him.”[a]

16 Meanwhile Peter continued knocking. When they finally went out and opened the door, their surprise knew no bounds.

The angel came to the prison and freed Peter. (read the earlier verses) Once he was free he went to where they were gathered having a prayer meeting on his behalf.

Point #1: Prayer is powerful; and it’s great to have someone praying on your behalf. Yes, we can pray for ourselves, but there is power in numbers.

He knocked on the gate of the house and Rhoda left the prayer meeting to come and see who it was. Once she recognized it was him she was so happy that she left him in the street and ran back inside to tell everyone.

Point #2: How many times have your prayers brought what you prayed for to the door; but you didn’t open the door and let it in? You have a responsibility that once you hearknocking you need to stop prayingopen the door and let in what you’ve been praying for. Look at what happened above. She knew it was him, but didn’t let him in. Your answered prayers are right there waiting for you.

Once she went back in the house Peter knocked again and again until they finally got up, went out, and opened the door and they were so surprised.

Point #3: After you pray: get up and open the door. There is such a surprise waiting for you. Are you ready to receive what you’ve been praying for? Well go open the door and let it in.

Robert & I pray that you and your family will have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving. Use wisdom and continue to wear your masks. They are saying two layers is safer now. Sanitize your hands and stay 6 feet apart.

Please do what Health Care Professionals are asking us to do. We have had so many Thanksgivings together. Let’s choose LIFE and keep our gatherings small so that we will be able to gather again when it’s safe. If you haven’t been tested for COVID, get tested if you’re planning to be around others on Thanksgiving. There are tons of free testing sites all over the world.
